Last Wednesday, Wild Sheep Foundation member Mike Kohler of Yulee, Fla., was able to cash in on a tag of a lifetime as he tagged a 300 pound, 11 year old bighorn ram off of a 20-year-old Ft. Belknap Reservation tag originally sold to Malta's Babsie Bishop. "I went to the council and asked them if I could market it," Bishop said. "My wife Toni had cancer at the time and we had some hospital bills. So they gave me the blessing to market it." The sheer size of the ram wasn't the only thing special... Full story

Engines are roaring and the final touches are being added to what seems to be an aging group of AMX cars in preparation for the final race of the year. This race is Oct. 1 and 2 in Dodson and will be a benefit race for Russell Jaynes. Russell was diagnosed in February of 2016 with adenoid cystic carcinoma and since then has had two major surgeries, followed by six weeks of intense radiation. His surgeries were in Salt Lake City, Utah - and this cancer is so rare he was only the 17th case they have had in their hospital. Following his surgeries...

There were some that were a little errant but she got to some, and was able to get it to some of our big hitters who were able to knock it down.” Co...
Thursday, September 15 saw the Dodson-Whitewater Harriers tackling the ever tough Frazer Invitational meet. Three of the Harriers posted personal bests in one of the last true cross-country courses with the beautiful Missouri River in the background and including the infamous “killer hill”. “It rained down there,” Harriers Coach Bruce Warren said. “And the course was muddy but by the time the varsity kids ran it was dried up enough.” For the ladies, Bella Lawless finished in 32nd place with...

Those in the know didn't hold out much faith that the First State Bank golf team had much of a chance against the Independence Bank team at the Malta Men's League Golf Championship last Thursday at Marian Hills. The Independence Bank squad won last year's championship (they also took the title in 2009) and First State Bank hadn't claimed the title since 2008. On paper, it didn't look good. On the course, however, it ain't over 'til it's over. First State Bank's A and B golfers – Bob Galt and J...
The Malta Mustangs are a pretty young team this season after losing 12 seniors to graduation. The Mustangs dropped their opening game to the 2015 State B runner-up Huntley Project last Friday 21-14. The team displayed a more than capable offense that will only get better with more experience and a defense that showed plenty of backbone as they only allowed two third down...

They were like that last year too." Coach Bloomer coaches the Dodson side of the Co-op, while Coach Bruce Warren coaches the Whitewater side. This season, Dodson will field four of...
