    The Malta M-ettes have won 10 State B titles, the most since the start of Girls' Class B Basketball in 1974 season. The first time Malta would earn a championship occurred a little over 25 years ago as the Malta M-ettes would down the Fairfield Eagles 54-52 in a double overtime thriller in Butte on Saturday, December 7, 1991.     Malta's chapter of the National Football League's Play 60 Pass, Punt and Kick had been busy this season. The season ended for the local competitors on Sunday, December 18 as its' top competitors Tailynn Wilke and Kazner Oxarart both in the 6-7 age bracket were able to place in their classes. Wilke won her regional age bracket Girls 6-7 for the second season in a row at the Denver Broncos Practice Facility. Her total was 125. Oxarart was able to take second place with a total of 150 feet.     The Dodson Lady Coyotes split their final weekend of 2016, by picking up their first win of the season over Nashua on Tuesday, December 20. The score was 34-20. The win came after they lost 62-26 to the Scobey Lady Spartans. In their win over Nashua, eighth grader Melony Fetter had a game leading 21 points, eight of which came in the third quarter.     Last November the Montana High School Association took its’ last votes that will impact Class B football tremendously. Due to low enrollment numbers mainly in small Class B schools, the MHSA voted to allow smaller Class B schools to play Class C 8-man football. Class B lost a total of 11 school due to a couple of schools moving to Class A football and others moving down to Class C 8-man. The wrestlers traveled to Shelby for The Santa Showdown held by Shelby-Valier on Thursday, December 22.     If there was any pressure to keep their streak going, it ended last Saturday night as the (2-1) Malta M-ettes fell 63-49 to the Poplar Indians in Poplar.
