    The Malta M-ettes had a rough week as the team saw a tough Chinook team last Tuesday in Malta. The M-ettes lost 3-0 with scores of 25-16, 25-11 and 25-13. The Dickinson Invitational was a rough outing for the M-ettes as the team dropped games to Oak, Grove, Beach and Century in pool play.     Last Tuesday, Malta M-ette senior Sophia Stiles announced that she had intent to play for the University of Montana Lady Grizzlies during her collegiate freshman year. The commitment right now is in the verbal stage, but Stiles plans on signing with the team in November.     The Malta M-ette cross country team took an afternoon bus east and ventured to Frazer for their annual mid-September Thursday meet. Glasgow won the event with 47 points, Poplar was second with 82 points and Malta took third with 142.     Engines are roaring and the final touches are being added to what seems to be an aging group of AMX cars in preparation for the final race of the year. This race is Oct. 1 and 2 in Dodson and will be a benefit race for Russell Jaynes. Russell was diagnosed in February of 2016 with adenoid cystic carcinoma and since then has had two major surgeries, followed by six weeks of intense radiation.
