    The Malta M-ettes Cross Country team participated in the Shelby Invitational on Monday, September 16 and the Poplar Invitational on Saturday, September 21. The overall winner of the girls' varsity race in Shelby was L’Tia Lawrence of Harlem who cruised the course with a time of 20:25. Teammate Taya Trottier, also of Harlem, posted the second-place finish of 21:54. Third place honors went to Brook Holland of Sunburst who ran in with a time of 22:16.     After allowing a 64-yard rushing touchdown on Roundup’s first offensive play of the game, Malta’s defense only allowed 53 yards for the remainder of the game.     The Malta M-ettes fared well at the Chinook Invitiaitonal Tournament last Friday, September 6 through Saturday, September 7, despite going going 3-8 at the event. In pool play, the M-ettes lost to Chinook 24-25 and 9-9 in the opening game. They would go on to loss to Shelby 18-25 and 15-12. Malta lost to Geraldine/Highwood 9-25 and 20-20.     With the departure of former Mustangs Head Coach Jim Benn, the 2019 Malta Mustangs Football team welcomes back a familiar face in newly rehired Head Coach Nick Oxarart, who was hired a little over a month ago.
