The 2024 Phillips County Fair AMX's A Main Event was won by a driver that has been a part of Dodson AMX for 20 years, but hadn't secured the top prize until Sunday, August 4. Malta AAU Wrestling held their 2024 Malta Summer Slam Wrestling Camp at Malta High School under the Direction of Great Falls CMR Coach Aaron Jensen and Malta Coach Kris LaBrie. The free camp for wrestlers from 1st grade to 12th grade was held on Sunday, July 21 through Tuesday, July 23, at the Malta High School Gymnasium. The Malta Swim Team competed at the 2024 Montana Federation of Swimmers Eastern Divisional meet in Glendive last weekend, and all four swimmers qualified for the State meet in Sidney this weekend. Phillips County Motorsports held three racing events from Friday, July 12 to Sunday, July 14, at the Hi-Line Dragstrip in Malta. On Saturday, two wee pound wrestling whizzes traveled to Spearfish, South Dakota. They were bound for the 2024 Blackhills Night Brawl, a unique wrestling event. At Trafton Park, it wasn't no kids' rodeo. This was where the boots, hats, and butts hit the ground...it was another rodeo put on by local rancher, Jerey McEwen, and a host of hands that made it seem to go like clockwork. The State-Wide 8K Shooting Challenge, hosted by 127 Sports Intensity and the Fairfield Basketball Club, is almost done. It started on May 1st and will end on August 23rd. The Malta Swim Team has been busy this summer, and despite not having a pool to practice in until Wednesday June 19, the team of six swimmers have been making waves. Last week, a new event for drag racers in the State of Montana named the Big Sky Race Week took place. And one of the stops for this race was the Hi-Line Drag Strip on Tuesday, June 18. 119 cars were registered to reach Malta and the trip was a total of 950 miles. The teams play games on Monday nights and practice throughout the week at the Trafton Park baseball and softball fields.
