  • CI-121 petition would hurt small businesses

    Apr 13, 2022

Hello to all, Constitutional Initiative 121 or CI-121 is a proposed initiative petition currently circulating to gather enough signatures to qualify for the ballot this November. If asked, decline to sign the petition for CI-121! We must keep this misleading ballot initiative off the ballot. CI -121 is not in the best interests of Montanan communities, businesses, or schools. We need to protect new homeowners and keep families in their homes. Small businesses are already struggling. We need to protect them from a tax shift that could...

  • Kindle invites community to Sunday Service

    Mar 23, 2022

Dear Editor, Hello to all, I'm writing to invite people to come to church. The pastor of the Methodist Church of Saco and the Little White Church of Malta is a thought-provoking pastor who tells it like it is. He tells us what we need to hear, not what we want to hear. Church in Saco starts at 9 a.m. and Malta, I think, is at 11 a.m. Pastor Steve's sermon from last week was eye opening, and to hear it tune in to KMMR at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Thanks for your time, Sam Kindle...

  • Dimas to be featured on Discovery Channel

    Mar 2, 2022

Dear Editor, Last spring I, Lowell Young, was watching Operation Outdoor Freedom on the Discovery Channel. It is a great show that honors our Veterans. At the end of the show it said that if you wanted to nominate someone, to send an email with their name and story. I nominated Darin Dimas from Poplar, MT. Darin served a tour in Afghanistan with the Montana National Guard. He also has two sons that were Army Rangers. Three weeks after I submitted his name I received a call from the producers of Operation Outdoor Freedom and they wanted to tell...

  • Cannabis is a gift from God

    Feb 23, 2022

Dear Editor, I wanted to take a moment and thank Todd and Brenda at The Loaded Toad for all their help in getting me the medicine I need. I have been treating my own throat cancer because I refuse to go the traditional mainstream medical establishment route of destroying my immune system to kill the cancer cells. The odds are not in my favor and so I decided to go a more natural, God-given route for my treatment and use cannabis. I had read about all the anecdotal evidence that suggests that cannabis can kill cancer and found information about...

  • Mayor of Dodson Addresses Issue Brought up from 2021 Election

    Feb 16, 2022

Dear Editor, My name is Angel Arocha, the Mayor of Dodson, Montana. I have occupied that position since being appointed to the vacant seat in May of 2021 and elected in November 2021. During my tenure, the City Council and I have worked on a number of exciting projects by bringing technology to our little town along with other projects that we are pursuing for the improvement of our community. Apparently, a potential problem with the conduct of the last election has been reported to county election officials. There seems to be much outside...

  • Malta's eponym brought up in a Seattle newspaper on issue of Cannabis

    Jan 26, 2022

Dear Editor, We received a clipping from a Seattle newspaper about "Malta," an island in the Mediterranean Sea, our namesake here in Phillips County from Pat Milne Hitchcock, a 1953 MHS graduate. Her father, C.R.Milne, was a fuel distributor for Standard Oil and Mayor of Malta in the 1960s. The article was about cannabis and its use, which is comparable to our new laws here in Montana. "Malta (the Island) legalized cannabis possession and cultivation in December for personal use by adults, took steps to set up what could become Europe's first...

Dear Editor, The My name is Saleena Davis and I am about to tell you about my life at M.O.I., which is also known as Malta Opportunities Inc. I moved into the group home in 2013. It gave me the opportunity to meet great staff and clients and to meet personal goals to succeed in life! There has been some good times and rough times! There are great staff and clients who have come and gone that I will truly miss! But there are still great staff who are still here to help us clients to succeed in life! So, like I said, I have been here since...

  • Response to Missing Person Case from 1981

    Dec 8, 2021

Dear Editor and Readers, The November 3, 2021 newspaper had a letter to the editor about the 1981 disappearance of Barbara Louise Cotton. The article was interesting as Barbara was a 15 year old from Williston, North Dakota. As a parent, not knowing what happened to your child would be the worst heartbreak. My son Scott told me about a podcast he had been listening to concerning a missing girl from North Dakota. The podcast had several references to Malta and was indeed about Barbara Louise Cotton. If you are interested in learning more about...

  • Concerns about "Build Back Better" bill

    Dec 1, 2021

Dear Editor and Readers, By now, I'm hoping some of you have called Senator John Tester's office and asked him not to vote for the Build Back Better bill. I have an update to report. I have been calling every couple of days just trying to talk to somebody, anybody. I know I'm making progress as I received a letter this past week. According to Tester, he's working with all members of congress because this bill is so freaking wonderful. Well, if you actually read anything at all in about what's in it, it's not. He has told me that this bill will...

  • Letter to the Editor for Wednesday, November 10, 2021

    Nov 10, 2021

Dear Editor, It was the second week of March 2020, Sonia and I were in Janesville, Wisconsin attending a seminar on raising game birds. Something I thought would be fun to do in retirement. At the conference there were participants from all over the United States, Canada, France, England, Scotland, Ukraine, Belgium, and other European counties. We all piled on crowed tour buses, went out for meals in crowed restaurants. No mask, no thoughts or worries of COVID, life was good. By Friday afternoon, there were rumors of toilet paper shortages,...

  • This is not the country that we grew up in

    Oct 13, 2021
    1

Dear Readers, I don't know if any of you are feeling like myself, but I feel like we're on a cliff and they're pushing us over the edge. Our country doesn't look or act like the country we grew up in. I'm tired of it and I think it is time for us to stand up and stop taking it. We need to know what they are teaching in our schools, what our government is passing, taking away, mandating. Our gov't just tried to pass a 3.5 trillion dollar bill, and it's not even that much money that is ludicrous, it's the fine print. They are dismantling our...

  • Update on the status of the Milk River Gospel Jamboree

    Mar 24, 2021

March 11, 2021 Dear Editor, Two weeks ago, we had our second Milk River Gospel Jamboree meeting for this year. The main topic of discussion was the jamboree, that until 2020, we have held every year since 2001. Last year, the plague of 2020 hit! We had 5 groups scheduled from Canada and 3 from United States, including Tim Lovelace. We looked forward to great gospel music, performances that blessed, and some that could cause belly splitting laughter, all family friendly and most with a gospel message for all. But it was not to be. The issues...
