A Dodson man today (Oct. 15, 2023) admitted an assault charge after he drifted into the oncoming lane while driving and crashed into another vehicle, seriously injuring the other driver, U.S. Attorney Jesse Laslovich said. Marvin James Cole, 27, pleaded guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury. Cole faces a maximum of 10 years of imprisonment, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release. One of our very own, Wanda Bushman, has begun a battle with stage 1 lobular carcinoma, a form of breast cancer. Wanda is our office manager at the Phillips County News and worked at the Harlem Elementary School for many years. She is mother of six adults, and grandmother of six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Funds raised from the Chinese Auction, sale of t-shirts and baked goods sale amounted to $3,100 which will go to the family of Courtney Hellie and Thora Prellwitz.
