    As of November 7th the positions on the City Council for two Alderman have been determined. The position for Ward 1 was sought after by three candidates, incumbent William (Bill) Hicks, Warren Abrahamson and Jerry Roberts. It was then that the world heard the news from Dallas, TX. The year was 1963, and it was on this day that President John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated.     In early March 1920, Malta found out it would be on the new transcontinental highway that was being planned across the northern U.S. It started at Portland, Maine and crossed the extreme southern part of Ontario, north of Lake Erie. From Grand Forks, North Dakota westward the highway closely followed the Great Northern Railway. The highway was completed in a piecemeal fashion.
