On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at approximately 2337 hours, Phillips County Sheriff's Office dispatch received a mutual aid request from Blaine County for a vehicle pursuit headed towards Phillips County on US 2. The request stated the suspect vehicle was traveling at speeds over 100 miles per hour. The occupants of the vehicle were suspected of transporting drugs. At 8: 30 PM on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, a Malta Elementary School faculty member received an email with a vague message and a threat that a bomb had been placed in the school.
