With a 58% turnout of voters in the Malta School District School Board Election held via mail-in, the voters cast their votes and elected two new members to serve on the School Board. Do you remember the Sunny Hillside School? It was located 14 miles south of Dodson and began in 1910. Students walked or rode horses across the prairie to attend. Though the policy of “No Child Left Behind” was unheard of in 1910 the rural teachers saw to it that each student was taught the three “R’s”. Between a broken leg, house remodel repairs, and a black mold diagnosis in their home, Beth was diagnosed with cancer. On the bright side, she and her husband Garry were closing in on the process of adopting their granddaughter, Emma. A benefit to aid her was set up. The Malta Dirt Daubers, along with help from the Malta Kiwanis, spent a busy Saturday afternoon decorating almost 50 oak barrels located around Malta. Each barrel received a small white fence, colorful birdhouse and artificial spring flowers. Later this month live flowers will be put into the oak barrels. Montana Farm Bureau has expressed strong concern at the proposal by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove agriculture from Refuge lands.
