The Malta Irrigation District (MID) has announced that due the failure of Drop 5 of the St. Mary Diversion, and in order to conserve water and extend the irrigation season, MID will be shutting down ditches and laterals from June 22, 2020-July 6, 2020. Ditches will be turned back on for a partial irrigation contingent on the available water supply. MID currently has a shutoff date for the irrigation season set at July 29, 2020. Phillips County Hospital (PCH) Interim CEO Larry Putnam reported the hospital received a LUCAS mechanical chest compression device last week at no cost from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust and Billings Clinic last week. Interim CEO Larry Putnam reports Phillips County Hospital recently received 10 isolation gowns for use during the COVID-19 outbreak from the Montana Hospital Association (MHA). MHA distributed 400 of the isolation gowns manufactured by SIMMS Fishing Products to small hospitals across the state. These reusable isolation gowns were made using a technical two-layer and three-layer waterproof, breathable fabric donated by Mervin Manufacturing. Behind the Phillips County Museum stands a log cabin. The cabin has been a part of our complex for many years but was recently renovated and now depicts a miner’s cabin. The cabin was originally from the Zortman area and was rescued by the BLM and given to us a few years ago. Willie Doll and crew helped us preserve the cabin by chinking between the logs.
