The first Wednesday of the month we will meet at 6:30 to 7:30 at Dianne Salsbery’s residence beginning in October.     In June, 2021, TC Energy cancelled its Keystone XL Pipeline project. A decision that was ultimately made in January, once President Joe Biden removed the permit it needed to cross into the U.S. from Canada. TC Energy provided details of its plan in an August 14 document filed in Montana federal court. It stated that work to remove the 1.2-mile segment of the pipeline in northern Phillips County, will start September 22.     The latest drought monitor (September 7, 2021) shows that 36% of the US is in drought level D2 or higher. Most of this is concentrated in the west with 80% D2 or higher and plains states at 42% D2. Widespread drought in 2021 has caused another liquidation cycle. Beef cow slaughter year to date is 9% above a year ago.     Two Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks law enforcement cases from the fall of 2020 were completed, including an unlawfully killed bull elk in Blaine County, and a bull moose in Phillips County. Lucas Sterling, 42, of Columbia Falls, plead guilty to charges of hunting without a license and unlawful possession of a bull elk. Sterling killed the elk during the 2020 archery season in the Bear Paw Mountains in Blaine County. Sterling was hunting without the required special permit for the hunting district.     Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will be using the chemical rotenone to remove invasive goldfish from an unnamed private pond on upper CK Creek, approximately one mile from Zortman.
