The Malta students put on their orange and held the first-ever Relay for Unity around the track on Wednesday, October 20. The students wore orange to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion, and to send a visible message that no child should ever experience bullying. The city of Malta kicks off the holiday season this Thursday, October 28, with the fourth annual Oktoberfest. Malta’s banks and participating businesses will be open on Thursday till 8 p.m. The Christmas scrip program is available at all three local banks; The First State Bank of Malta, Bank of Malta, and Independence Bank. A recent spike in Covid-19 cases brings community awareness back to the forefront. Just two short months ago, on Monday, August 16, the Phillips County Health Department was reporting zero active cases. On Monday, September 13, that number was 11, and now, as of Thursday, October 7, it's at 42 active cases. On Friday, October 1, 2021, a joint drug interdiction operation was conducted involving members of the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office, Montana Motor Carrier Services, Montana Highway Patrol, and a K-9 unit with the US Department of Fish Wildlife and Parks.
