A few hours prior to that meeting, Crowder sat down with the Phillips County News to discuss his time on the board and how he came to be the representative for Malta's Ward 2. "There were some interests at the time that I had which I thought could be better," Crowder said of his decision to run for city council in 27 years ago. Since that time, Crowder has...

  • Acing the season

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoor Columnist|Dec 30, 2015

I pulled an old scab off Ace last night. It was on his back just above his tail where the barbed wire caught him. He didn’t cry or flinch. He simply watched and wagged, glad that I was home again. A couple of days earlier Barb and I boarded the westbound Empire Builder a few blocks from the house, took our seats, and watched Montana pass by until it got dark. Then the Christmas lights came on in the little towns along the tracks and we stared at them out the window until we fell asleep to the cl...

  • Only because she loves me

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Dec 30, 2015

For the past few years I have been spoiled during the Christmas season because my wife Susan has not only blessed me with an abundance of gifts. It hasn’t only been the amount of gifts, but the quality as well. It doesn’t end there. She gets so excited about the gifts she gives me that she always lets me open them well before Christmas. Feeling I need to reciprocate, I always let her un-wrap hers as well. This year we came close to waiting as most of America does, but less than one week to go,...

  • Counseling Corner for the week of December 30, 2015

    American Counseling Association|Dec 30, 2015

From the American Counseling Association It's a certainty that the number one resolution again this year will be about weight loss. While it's a good resolution it's not an easy one to accomplish. And that's why friends and family are often very eager to jump in and "help." Unfortunately, a great deal of the help offered actually can have an opposite effect.
