If one didn't know better, one might be led to believe that elfin' magic happened in the middle of the night at the Court House. Standing graciously on the ground floor of the Court House is the seasonal display put together and arranged by the fairies and pixies (aka the employees). The theme this year was based around gingerbread houses and the display is one you should make an effort to come see while it is up. Spearheaded by Jodee Lee (in her spare time), the elegant tree is surrounded by...
The big rush and opportunity to get a jump start on business with the Christmas season is taking a back seat at the Family Dollar Store on the south edge of town. Donovan Martin, of Ogden, Utah, and Ben Winkle of St. George, Utah, are the general contractors on the development of the new business store that will potentially employ four to six employees once they are up and running. The two head contractors are both less than 30 years old. Doug Ost, who sold the property to the development...
The magic of Christmas hit the streets of Malta on Monday the 4th of December, and a good portion of the town residents showed up and lined the streets for the annual Parade of Lights. As the music of the holiday season played at the Veterans Park on Front Street, families lined up and anxiously awaited the flashing lights and, of course, the candy thrown from the parade entries! Young and old, ready with bags, were scrambling to retrieve the goodies tossed among the crowd. This year, the chairm...

Tester worked with five Republicans and four Democrats to negotiate the IIJA and was the only member of Montana’s Congressional delegation to vote for the bill. “As someone who’s spent his entire life in north central Montana, I can t...

Every time I visit Bozeman I’m reminded of why I left. At the time I blamed the opening of a store specializing in nothing but batteries as the final straw. That was nearly 20 years ago. Bozeman has grown by leaps and bounds since then. There are probably a couple of battery stores in town now. Malta, on the other hand, where Barb and I moved, has seen a decline in population, as has much of rural Montana. Newcomers, it seems, may talk about moving to the rugged West, but most of them actually w...

The fish were transported to Bowdoin in 25 to 100 lb. boxes and put on the train to arrive alive at their destination.
