    The Dodson School hosted a community picnic last Wednesday to honor the town's military veterans and celebrate Thanksgiving as the school's cafeteria was packed to the brim with students, parents, teachers and community members. The meal consisted of all the Thanksgiving Trimmings -- turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable trays, salads -- and was highlighted by the Dodson students from grades kindergarten through sixth as the students provided entertainment for the event.     Attention hunters: This year the late season upland game bird season will open slightly later than usual (on a weekend) in an effort to encourage youth hunting. The late season upland game bird hunt, in the eastern portion of the Refuge, is scheduled for December 6, 2014 and will last until the season closes on January 1, 2015.     The reason producers see high cattle price is because of the continued shortage of beef cattle in the US. Beginning stocks for 2015 are down 89 million pounds. US beef production for 2015 is estimated down 794 million pounds and imports will be short as well. USDA estimates that beef imports will be down 123 million pounds.
