FWP fisheries and hatchery staff will begin collecting adult Chinook salmon on Fort Peck Reservoir starting the first week of October. The annual collection effort lasts through much of October, with the goal of collecting as many eggs as possible. Salmon are then raised in the hatchery and will be released back into the reservoir in the spring of 2023. Sympathy to the victims of Hurricane Ian in Florida. We are so lucky not to have hurricanes or volcanoes. I have heard the Sandhill cranes as they fly over on their way south several days this week! On Saturday the Andrew Flansaas Suicide Awareness memorial run drew a crowd of participants to the Loring area. Randy Stenvic bused the runners to the starting line 3.1 miles from Loring. The Malta Cross Country Team hosted the 2022 Malta Athletic Club Invitational with a total of 87 runners present at Marian Hills Golf Course. We attended the rescheduled Frazer race on Tuesday, October 4, and the Malta Invitational on Saturday, October 8. It was a full week for the girls.
