  • Malta can't be found on top ten list

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoors Columnist|Oct 6, 2021

Rare is the town that fails to make a list of the top ten places to do whatever: retire, ski, fish, buy an over-priced condo. As hard as I look, however, I can’t find Malta included anywhere. It even missed a recent list of the best places to retire in Montana that included Jordan. Really. Jordan with a population of 400, a dusty little prairie burg sitting on the banks of Dog Creek, was considered a better place to retire than Malta. I suppose that’s a good thing. We’ve got enough old peopl...

  • September was a Month of Remembrance

    Kari Hould, Malta VFW Auxiliary|Oct 6, 2021

As the month of September “leaves” us we are left with gentle reminders of the ever presence of the military in our lives and community. A busy one, the month of September was filled with a time of reflection and remembrance time. The first week of the month was for suicide awareness and prevention. The high school students under the direction of Mrs. Sue Gilkerson created and displayed posters at the school. Military deaths are still occurring at the rate of 22 a day! While many struggle with the idea of it, too many see this as the only opt...

    Kari Hould, Malta VFW Auxiliary|Oct 6, 2021

Some are still missing as a result of being held in prisoners as POW (Prisoner of War) from conflicts on enemy soil. Regardless of why these men and women have never come home...

  • Malta picks off Conrad four times in 43-0 victory; to face Cut Bank Friday

    Pierre Bibbs, Publisher|Oct 6, 2021

The Malta Mustangs Football team is now 5-0 this season after posting a dominant 43-0 over the Conrad Cowboys at Mustang field on Friday, September 24. "The key to our win was being able to shut down their run game, and forcing them to pass, and that creates turnovers for us," Malta senior Cash Salsbery said. "Which made sense because we had a lot of picks today." Salsbery was asked about the team's start, and he said that it was a good start, but the team has plenty to work on. "We are working...

On Saturday, October 2, 2021, the Malta cross country teams had an opportunity to attend the first-ever Fairview cross country meet, held at Sundheim Park, just east of Fairview, ND. “The course looked great, with the start on a blacktop trail that looped around the campground and then made its way under the end of a bridge, and then out on to some dirt roads that wind around sugar beet fields,” said Malta Head Coach Thea Solberg. “The varsity girls’ race began with a congested start which meant that you needed to explode at the beginni...
