The Malta Cross Country runners competed at the Havre Cross Country Meet on Saturday, September 10. The overall winner of the girl's varsity 3 mile race at the Prairie Farms Golf Course in Havre was Tanae Baker of Glasgow who ran the race in 19:30. The Malta Mustangs football team has now won two straight after defeating the Red Lodge Rams 20-0 in Red Lodge last Friday, September 9. The North Country Lady Mavericks volleyball team is now at 5-0, thanks to the wins that they picked up last week. Action at the Hi-Line Drag Strip filled the town over the Labor Day weekend. Drag strip enthusiasts, from across the state, North Dakota, and Canada, spent three days in the warm weather, racing to their heart’s content. Saturday was Quick 16, which matches eight cars with eight dragsters. Duane Lloyd, from Nashua, was the #1 door qualifier; Britney Thornton, Lewistown, was the #1 dragster qualified. The Whitewater Penguins attended the Havre Invitational on Saturday. I was very optimistic going into this meet. The weather was going to be absolutely gorgeous and the girls had a solid week of practice. We arrived at the course and the girls did their run through and began doing form run at about seven minutes before ten o'clock. The 2022 Marian Hills Ladies Golf League started out this year on Wednesday, May 5, with eight teams. Teams competing this year were sponsored by the Tin Cup, Bank of Malta, Shane Anderson Insurance, Valley Drug, Phillips County Hospital, Independence Bank, First State Bank and Art’s Furniture and Carpet.
