Heading up this year's Fun Day's parade in the lead car were Saco Centennial Grand Marshall Esther Brosseau and Saco All School Reunion Grand Marshall Howard Pippen. Brosseau, who has lived in the community for 93 of her 95 years, told the PCN that this year's parade was the second she had been...

The last Malta City Council meeting of the Summer of 2018 was held last week, and the Council heard of a few items relating to the Municipal Pool, the first of which focuses on a day for local bow-wows. Malta Parks and Recreation Co-Director Julia Tatafu told the council that the department will host a Dog Day at the pool in which people can bring their hounds to swim at the facility as a last hooray for the pool season. “We have been approached a couple of times about it in past years,” Co-Director Tatafu said. “Why not,” added Malta Mayor Joh...

Dear Editor, I have often wondered whether the supporters of the American Prairie Reserve who live outside of Montana and outside of the U.S. would know the difference between a Brahman bull and a bison if they saw them on the grasslands. Apparently, I am on to something!!! While APR’s self-promoting video on CBS Sunday Morning was showing a herd of bull elk running, in the background you could hear “where the antelope play” from the song Home on the Range. I would like Alison Fox to explain her comment about “some of the money comes from ou...
I’m often misunderstood. It’s no one’s fault but my own. Many of my columns are written with tongue firmly embedded in cheek. I can be a bit cynical and have even been known to exhibit a sarcastic bent. Occasionally readers take me too seriously. Last week’s column on my failure to draw an antelope tag is the most recent example. A reader responded that he, too, had failed to draw a tag, the result, perhaps, of being on the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks black list. He went on to...
Talk about a lousy lunch. Although I generally eat my lunch of yogurt, trail mix, beef sticks and cheese together, it’s not every day that I combine it all into one concoction. Friday, dear readers, was that day. With Saco Fun Days, The Milk River Wagon Train and Labor Day all occurring last week, I took Wednesday and Thursday off knowing that Friday through Monday was to be momentous. Roundabout noon, out came the sack lunch and I quickly added a cup of peach yogurt to my trail mix, making sure to remove the cheese from the concoction before I...
