  • Wildfires Increase Flooding Risks

    Patricia Spencer, Montana DNRC|Jul 24, 2024

Recent hot temperatures and dry conditions have triggered wildfires throughout the state. While some wildfire effects are predictable, a lesser-known effect can be an increased risk of flooding due to wildfire burns. “It is difficult to think about flooding in the middle of or after a wildfire event. • Out the Door One Last Time

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoors Columnist|Jul 24, 2024

Barb and I moved to Malta nearly twenty years ago fleeing the rampant growth that was just beginning to take off in the Gallatin Valley. We bought an old house and an office building in town, and settled into life on the Hi-line. Barb wrote while I renovated the buildings, grew a big garden, and hunted. Yesterday I walked out the door for the last time, leaving the house that I’d lived in longer than any other. One last load of boxes, tools, and furniture filled the pickup and flatbed t...

  • This Time, I Figured Out How to Relax!

    Pierre Bibbs, Play Ball|Jul 24, 2024

Relaxing is not something that I do well. For the last couple of weeks, I did better than I thought. How could one not relax on a cruise ship? Somewhere around 2010, I cruised the wrong way! I could not relax. It was hard for me to sleep at a decent time, and I averaged only a few hours of sleep a day. Last week, I found myself on my second cruise and heading to the Bahamas for the Fauth Family Reunion, a trip similar to the trip I took in 2011 but vastly different. This time, I was determined t...

The smoke in the sky makes for beautiful sunsets and sunrises! The moon has been full this week, so it has had some beautiful colors too! But the clear blue sky is still the best!
