Another summer is halfway through and the high school football season is right around the corner. Every year before the corner is rounded; the Malta Mustangs make a stop in Fairfield for the Mid-Montana Team Camp as they did last weekend. Last year the Malta Co-Ed Softball League was a small group with enough players to field just a couple of teams. This season the league will feature five local teams that will play two games every Tuesday for the next four weeks, with playoff rounds following. Malta will be host of the 2016 Divisional Swim Meet for the Eastern Montana Federation of Swimmers. The meet will host eight teams and close to 300 swimmers. Malta should have 28 swimmers this weekend which is a strong number for a group that has placed with less than half the amount in prior weeks. The Quack is BACK!! The Great Plains Dinosaur Museum (GPDM) announces that up to 500+ rubber duckies will race to the finish on Saturday, July 30th. The traditional “duck boards”, offering numbered ducks for adoption for the fee of $5 are available at most taverns and businesses in Malta. The Malta High School auditorium was the scene of a rather hilarious play put on by the cast and crew from this year’s Kids Mat Summer Theatre Camp last Thursday. The play was hosted by Art Spot and Montana Actors’ Theatre.
