  • Transparency?!?

    Jul 19, 2017

Letter to the Editor, I could comment on Trump, Jr's explanation of the infamous meeting he and (every day there is a new person added to the number) that met in Trump tower supposedly to get dirt on Hillary. But by the time this goes to press there will probably be more, but Papa Trump said right up front when the story broke that Jr. was transparent in the whole matter. Guess his idea of transparent is trickle down as needed info. Thought transparent meant you presented all vital information when requested at the beginning. But Sunday...

  • If only I could have seen it

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoor Columnist|Jul 19, 2017

As wet as it’s been in some parts of Montana, it’s been dry as a bone in others. I haven’t seen rain in more than a month at my home in Malta or my cabin on Fort Peck. It rained in Malta last night but I missed it. I was headed home from the lake to water the garden when my wife called to tell me our dock – with pontoon boat attached – had blown off shore and was resting against a neighbors dock. I turned around at Saco and headed back to our cabin on the appropriately named Big Dry Arm. Clou...

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Jul 19, 2017

So I finally mustered the courage to watch a remake of my first favorite television show and as embarrassing as it is to write, I liked it. I was about five years old when the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers first came on Saturday, August 28, 1993. That day is also my father’s birthday. I was hooked from the first episode and rarely missed an airing of it until eventually I outgrew it and they changed the show up a couple of times. As a young kid playing with my brothers and other kids we would alw...

Thunder and lightning are common place events during the month of July in Phillips County as they were also in 1934. So, let’s travel back to the Phillips Ranch in south Phillips County. Taking cover in a camp wagon during a thunderstorm were Pat Barrow, Bert Jarvis, Frank Baker, and two unidentified men. Suddenly the men became victims of a stray lightning bolt. The bolt struck Barrow burning the metal ring from his watch and melting the glass c...

Please, be careful of camp fires, cigarettes, etc. It is so dry, however, we in Whitewater had one good shower. It all helps. There were about 15 people from South Carolina who participated in the “Tent Revival” at Whitewater...
