Last weekend while many people attended the car show, races, motorcycle jumps, class reunions, concerts and annual feeds, a group of anglers – some novices, others season fishers – headed out to Nelson Reservoir for Camp Walleye. The Malta M-ettes have had a great year winning both the 2016 State B Basketball Title and most recently the 2016 State B Track and Field title in May. In the last week of May, Malta High School's Gymnasium acquired a new look. No logos were changed, the floor also looks the same, but with a major difference, a new light system; a system that Malta Electric Contractors owner Steve Cole believes will save the school up to $15,000 a year. A former M-ette standout Greta (Koss) Buehler had made the most of her college years at the University of Montana (U of M) in Missoula during her years as a Lady Griz forward, enough so that the school has chosen her to be forever enshrined in the Grizzly Sports Hall of Fame. With Coach Donnie Lynn stepping down as Malta Swim Team Coach, the Malta Swim Team is getting used to a new system, an interim coach who will also be the team's consultant and a future new head coach in the works. Frankie Orahood, a 2016 graduate of Malta High School, finished her 2015-2016 high school rodeo season third in the goat tying at the Montana State High School Rodeo Finals in Baker, Mont. this past weekend. She will be competing at the National High School Rodeo Finals in Gillette, Wyo. The rodeo runs July 17-24.
