    As most of Phillips County rested comfortable on the evening of Tuesday, June 4th, the late night lanterns were burning the midnight oil well into Wednesday morning. A dedicated crew processed the election ballots and the office of the Clerk and Recorder at the court house closed after a long day. Some of the staff had arrived at work by 6:30 a.m., so they were ready to call it a day by 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.     For the month of June, the Phillips County News will be printed in Kalispell. For the month of July, the PCN will be printed in Bozeman. Our sister newspaper in Havre has been struggling with press issues for the past year or so. The PCN, Havre Daily Chronicle, and Glasgow Courier have been granted the permission to seek out another press for our printing needs.     A beautiful day greeted the Phillips County Ambulance crew as they hosted their main fund-raiser of the year on Saturday.     In 1924, a survey taken estimated there were between 4,000 and 5,000 cows being milked in Phillips County. Farmers were beginning to recognize the value of the cream check coming in each week that helped to pay for groceries. The Great Northern Railway set up meetings along the Hi-Line to show Holstein bull calves that they had purchased from the Carnation Farm.     A local veteran had spearheaded a project and is now looking to expand the collection that is already started. John Barnard, a former member of the US Army National Guard Unit in Malta, felt a need to keep track of those that have served, as well as where they have served. He started collecting patches from various veterans from their tours and assignments and placing them in a display case at the local VFW Post.
