The people have spoken, and they said the same things as last year. The 16th annual First State Bank Car Show was held in Malta last Saturday and the People's Choice Award for Best Car went to Laurel's Phil and Mindy Cramer and their canary yellow and black, 1970 Ford Torino Cobra 429 for the second year in a row. "This is for this year," Cramer explained the trophy to his son. "The people like our car as much as we do." For those not familiar with Phil and Mindy's story with the car, the...

The deadline to apply for an antelope tag is only a couple of days away. I always wait until the very last minute. It brings me luck. Or at least I tell myself it does. My wife says I simply put things off because I’m a procrastinator. She may be right. I didn’t draw a tag last year. I also put off buying a new bilge pump for the boat this spring and nearly paid dearly for it. The weather forecast called for strong thunderstorms and damaging hail last weekend, but instead of pulling the boa...
So, we made it to the third part of my great failure. For the last couple of weeks, I have been talking mostly about Taco Bell and my quest to try their delicious looking fries. Of course, it all starts with television. One of the things I do miss most about living in a bigger town is the availability to impulsively buy anything I see on TV. It drives the fat part of my mind crazy when I see any restaurant or fast-food commercial only to know that that dining establishment is over 100 miles away. Yes, there are many perks to living in Eastern M...
