At the City Council meeting, there were new topics to be addressed and old ones as well. Mayor Demarais opened the meeting sharing that he had started a conversation on Facebook about the grass cans and this lead to a lively discussion, the issue of the need for grass cans. Rena and Bob Math attended the 50th anniversary of Janet (DeMontigny) and Darrell Collier on May 18 in Medicine Hat, Canada. Wes and Marlene Anderson of Seattle, along with their son, Bill, who flew in from Jordan, Israel, attended the funeral of their cousin, Bill Murdock. Bill Anderson has been in the Air Force. It’s nearly June and I haven’t been in the water yet. There was a time I never would have let that happen. On the news yesterday I saw it was supposed to be 95 degrees in Paducah, Ky. I used to work at a marina near there, and when it was that hot I would start my day in the water, cooling off with a dip before opening the bait shop at first light. Rosie Jeannette Larsen Rosencrans passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022, in North Newton, Kansas. She was born in Malta, Montana on March 27, 1941, to Lars Marius Larsen and Hazel Rose (Young) Larsen. After graduation, she married Lawrence George Rosencrans on November 9, 1960. Eugene "Gene" Lewis Mendel was born to William and Alvina Mendel on November 8, 1925, and he passed on January 15, 2023. He was one of six children and lived on the family homestead in Winifred until his senior year of high school when the family moved to Kalispell. He entered the US Navy in June of 1943 and served our country proudly on submarines for three years.
