On Tuesday, April 11, 2023, Donald Haseagle was reported missing from the Fort Belknap Reservation. A search was initiated and continued on the Reservation from that time. Fay B. Smith, 86, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Peaks Assisted Living in Flagstaff, AZ. Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date. Fay was born in Malta, Montana, on May 5, 1936, to John and Daisy Smith. She attended Northern Montana College in Havre, MT, receiving a diploma for Legal Secretary in 1956. Fay married Lowell A. After another long Montana winter, Bud passed away peacefully in his sleep on the first day of spring, March 20, 2023, at the age of 96. Bud was born to Oscar and Edna (Berquist) Johnson in Malta on July 8, 1926, the youngest of three boys. His oldest brother Phillip, 9, died from a horse accident, and his second brother Orville (LeRoy) died of whooping cough as a toddler. We returned from Billings on Tuesday evening and had rain in places all the way home. We were very surprised at the amount of snow that had disappeared. Then on Wednesday, it rained all day in spurts, finally seeing the sun again on Thursday.
