The Mustang Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of two new scholarships. Mr. Wayne Hoyer is a 1939 graduate of Malta High from California. He was raised in the south country and was good friends with Polly Southwick and had the pleasure of visiting the area in 1992. Mr. Kelly Taylor, the principal at the time, loaned him a vehicle so he could venture around the area. Thirteen Malta wrestlers competed in the Montana State Little Guy Wrestling Tournament in Great Falls on April twelfth. Ten Grapplers were in the metals. Matt Sims, Jesse Schipman, Thayne Mackey, Jerry Benge and Pat Gibbs supplied the coaching staff. We had a great crowd attend to cheer on the crew. There were over 500 wrestlers from all over the state in attendance. We had some really tough matches and some great wrestling from all our weight classes. Being one of those church boys, I grew up with my family celebrating Easter. One of my fondest memories of this holiday of life included a visit to my mother’s mom, aka Granny. Granny was the type of woman that wanted to know if you clapped in church, she would always take us to the store to get fruit stripe gum and she loved the Lord with all her heart. Rest in Peace. The Cal Wearley Invitational went down last Wednesday, April 9, and the young Mustangs and M-ettes fared well, considering the amount of youth on the team. Sophia Stiles, a freshman, ran like she stole something at the Cal Wearley Memorial. The freshman has won three events in the first track and field meet of her young career. The Whitewater Penguins had a strong showing at the Cal Wearley Invitational in Havre last Wednesday, April 9. The ladies team placed twelfth out of 20 teams and was led by junior Kourtney Simonson. Simonson told the PCN last week that she needed to improve her first lap time, it seems like she did on her way to her first-first place finish of the year in the 800 meter run. Her time was 2:33.40 seconds, nearly 2.5 seconds faster than her first meet. She placed fourth in the 400 meter run, with...
