Malta School’s Superintendent Kris Kuehn told the board that $22,841 of the bill will be covered from insurance money and that nearly another $2,300 will be covered by a TIP Grant and other past fundraising monies. “Which leaves the District’s obligatio...

I’m not from around here. That fact is regularly pointed out to me. Usually following a column someone didn’t like. It’s true. I was born and raised a Hoosier. I didn’t arrive in Montana until I was 18. I came here on my own. And I’m still here by choice. But I don’t bring that up when someone calls me an outsider. There’s no need. It shouldn’t make my opinion on matters of Montana any less legitimate. You don’t have to live here a certain length of time to have an opinion. Of course no one lik...
As I sit in front of my computer this Wednesday morning, removing last week’s news in perpetration for this week’s, I decided to leave the giant picture box on page 1A -- the one which housed the Saco-Whitewater-Hinsdale second place basketball squad -- because I am just that confident that it will be replaced with a picture of the Malta M-ettes hoisting some Class B hardware. No pressure ladies...yeah right. It has been a forgone conclusion that anything short of a State Championship for the M-ettes at the Class B Championship in Great Fal...

Grapevine questions for this week were answered by Malta M-ette fans at the 2015 State B Tournament in Great falls after the M-ettes defeated previously undefeated Forsyth. Question A: How well did the M-ettes play against Forsyth in the semi-finals? Question B: What will be the outcome of the championship game? (Malta won 46-35)...
Thanks to the excellent play of our sports teams,I have been blessed to follow them during state tournaments for the past three basketball seasons and last couple of wrestling seasons. During my expeditions, I have learned a few things. Number one, I invested in the a shoulder strap for my camera, instead of a strap around the neck, which can really hurt after a few hours. Second I learned to make sure I keep my batteries fully charged. Third, I learned to plan a hotel early, because nothing is guaranteed upon arrival to whatever town the...
