    Eldora Henry, PCN Correspondent|Mar 9, 2022

All week we have had harsh winter again. We got several inches of snow Wednesday night and Friday and the cold followed and stayed. It was sort of bad weather for the tournaments but they carried on well. Terri Cole and Bonnie Lankford went to Helena in the storm on Friday. Velyma Broadhead has been away for a few days this week. Kay Taylor has been having issues with her propane/furnace so has been a little cool with electric heaters. Hope things are better with you Kay. I was a little worried...

  • Loring News for Wednesday, March 9, 2022

    Dixie Stordahl, PCN Correspondent|Mar 9, 2022

Wednesday evening 3/2 the snow started coming down while we were at Ash Wednesday services and dropped about 4 inches overnight! Then on Thursday, it picked up again and maybe a couple more inches! So needed! On Wednesday I noticed that the dog was drinking from a puddle of water not frozen. When I went out to investigate, I had a leak in the pump house basement which made the basement a swimming pool! Just so thankful for Pete Lumsden, Jay Blunt, and Rodney Stordahl for coming to my rescue....

  • I've been told nearly all of my life...

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoors Columnist|Mar 9, 2022

I’m befuddled by the legions of folks complaining about their loss of freedoms. Maybe I’m just naive, but I don’t seem to have lost any. For a third of the year I wander the landscape unfettered, shotgun or rifle in hand, ready to shoot at stuff. That hasn’t changed since I was a kid although I’ve been told nearly all my life that someone is coming to take my guns. I do remember when mail-order firearm sales were prohibited, something to do with JFK’s assassination, I seem to recall. But...

  • What's On Mark's Mind?

    Mark Foss, Thoughts on Things|Mar 9, 2022

The world news is all talk about Russia invading Ukraine. I truly believe that Putin has lost his mind. I saw a cartoon drawing of Putin and Biden sitting across from each other a few weeks ago. Putin is playing chess while Biden is playing checkers. After what I’ve heard about this invasion, I believe chess is out the window. One of them is playing checkers while the other is playing tiddly-winks. This past weekend a large F3 tornado tore across my home state of Iowa. It was on the ground for over an hour, killing 7, including 2 children. My t...
