  • Phillips County 4-H Shooting Sports receives donation

    Longtime supporters of the Phillips County 4-H Shooting Sports, the Malta American Legion Post No. 57 and the Sons of the American Legion donated a combined total of $3,000 to the local youth program. These donations will be used to purchase supplies as well as make equipment updates. The PC 4-H Shooting Sports program currently has 57 youth participating in the air pistol, air rifle and archery disciplines.     Jared Krebs was recently hired as the new Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks eastern district fisheries management biologist in Glasgow. Krebs, originally from Minnesota, holds both a bachelor's degree in wildlife biology from St. Cloud State University and a master's degree in fisheries from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.     The Malta FFA competed at the annual Fergus Alumni Mechanics Contest in Lewistown, Mont, on Saturday, January 23. There were 10 teams competing at this contest from around the state. The contest was in a really great format to allow for creativity and social distancing. As a team our students worked together to create a water fountain.     The North Country Mavericks defeated a pair of Class C opponents last week as they defeated the Plentywood Wildcats last Saturday and the Circle Wildcats last Thursday.     Triangle Mobile and Verizon have entered into an agreement that will allow Verizon to purchase the LTE in Rural America (LRA) assets from Triangle Mobile. Due to the substantial build-out that Triangle has completed, Verizon will acquire Triangle Mobiles current coverage area. This transaction is expected to close mid-year 2021.
