  • The PCN's Top Stories of 2023

    Kari Hould, PCN Staff|Jan 3, 2024

Some look forward to the closing out of another year, while some dread it and there are those who waltz into a new year and not even know the last one was closing out. Which one best describes you has a great deal to do with several factors: how much you enjoyed the 365 days we call a year; how you were able to spend the year; and what memories you made throughout the year. Let's set aside factors like poor memory so we can at least start on the same level. What did we each do with the...

  • A Hunt in the Cattails

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoors Columnist|Jan 3, 2024

The ground was white with frost when I climbed out of the truck. It almost looked as if it had snowed. In an hour, however, it would be gone, the ground bare and dry again under another cloudless sky. Dot sat patiently as I fastened the e-collar around her neck. Ace wandered to the other side of the truck, lifting his leg on the tire. I tested the beep on the collar and Dot squealed and started hoovering the grass at the edge of the cattails. Her attention was only a button away. Ace, deaf and...

  • Vacation and Vitamins Made a Difference

    Pierre Bibbs, Play Ball|Jan 3, 2024

This was a weird year. I loved a lot of things about 2023. My favorite thing was taking intentional time with my family. Earlier this year, we took our longest vacation in terms of time and distance away from home. We went to see my brother-in-law Sam Fauth, his wife Mirjam, and their children Noah, Livia, and Sofia. It was awesome experiencing a culture different from ours. It was a trip that our family will never forget. We will also never forget getting stuck at the airport in Denver and...

The nights are longer, the days are shorter. Soon we will close out another year on our calendar.
