I went to Czech for three months. I left in January, and came home in April. My parents took me to Prague, the capital city. There were beautiful buildings with carved sculptures on them. We saw a gold man, a bronze man, and a silver man. We met Mommy on the Charles Bridge. Then, Daddy took us to the clock tower. Everyone had gathered in the town square. Suddenly, the clock began to chime. Two doors opened and the twelve apostles circled behind the open doors. Meanwhile, a skeleton rang a bell...
2-14. We learned that not all insects fly. In one of our books we found two vertebrates (duck and frog) and one invertebrate (dragonfly). We talked about earthworms and spiders. Linden and I have a big spider in our porch. None of our earthworms wanted to come out. We looked for bugs. Andi found a wasp. Linden found a fly. We wrote what was the same about our bugs, and what was different. Andi found the wasp in the garbage can, so apparently wasps like garbage. The fly tried to escape. I think vertebrae are shaped like some kind of airplanes....
Practicing our Play We practiced our Christmas play. Linden was the imp, and Andi and I were the angles. Linden hasn't quite learned all his lines, yet. [Imagine that, first read through, and he doesn't have it memorized. Maybe the second time he sees it...] A doll will probably be baby Jesus. Mommy or Deanna will be Mary. We practiced the part that comes after our piano solo, because we had done the first part the Monday before....
1-11. During science, we took out our science sheets. We got new bug family trees. One was hard to follow, the other two were easy. Then, we looked at our ladybugs. There were some exoskeletons. There were ladybug larvae crawling around. There was paper and food. Last, we looked at maggots. A lot of them were pupae. We had a short science. 10-8. During Science, Zora, Linden and I tried to start a fire on ash and sugar cubes. The wind was going so it didn't work very well. But we...
First period at Tallow Creek is math. We started out math by talking about math and fiddling with blocks. We made lots of shapes. Then, we looked at our calendar. We figured out what day it was, what week it was, and what month it was. We put the thermometer outside, and looked out the window to check the weather. That's really all I remember of math. Editors note: Zora is nine-years-old...
