This is open to the public, age doesn’t matter. In the past year, the center had gutters installed during the Labor Day rains and the gutters worked perfectly! The kitchen was stripped of all c...

Live Generously: Hands and Hearts, was the theme on Saturday, March 18 at the Malta Senior Center featuring the Corned Beef and Cabbage annual dinner. The group cooked up 60 lbs., far more than in 2016. The generosity of those attending was heartwarming and will allow the finalizing of the kitchen expenses. The Malta Senior Center is currently looking into...
The area community has worked tirelessly in supporting activities at the Malta Senior Center over the past few years. Whether it be fundraisers, other entities hosting their events at the center; whatever it took to raise the funds to remodel the kitchen. Members tore away the old and brought forth a totally functional and workable kitchen, complete with a dishwasher, which will be initiated Saturday, March 18, 11:30-1:30. when the group serves up Corned Beef and Cabbage. The funds from the freewill offering, will be put toward the remaining...
The Malta Senior Center is made up of volunteers as it is a non-profit organization. When an event is held at the center, funds are earmarked for a special project. The furnace is an example as it was almost entirely funded by grants and donations. After that successful project, the center had gutters installed this fall to alleviate ice forming on the sidewalks. The Center experienced a water break which would have shut down the Center and the Food Bank, however, Malta Glass, through the generosity of Craig and Mary Mangis, allowed a hose be...

Malta Senior Citizens hosted a successful Soup and Bread event October 29, which allowed them to take two steps forward and only one back. Malta Ready Mix poured the sidewalk and curb this past week to complete the repairs from the broken water line. An FYI: When you, as a respectful citizen, see yellow tape and the City’s orange posts signifying DO NOT CROSS that is exactly what it means. The contractor came back to check on the sidewalk only to find a perfect foot print in the concrete. Since the cement had ‘set-up’ it took time to smoot...
Malta Senior Citizens seems to be doing a dance as they work to increase their funds towards remodeling the kitchen. The furnace is installed and paid for with grants, memorials and fundraising. Next, a water line broke however, the Center was able to stay open through the graciousness of Malta Glass allowing the Center to access water from their business. The line is repaired and the street is somewhat fixed to allow safe parking for the event. Now, the Center is ‘dancing’ forward and doing an Autumn Soup and Bread luncheon Saturday Oct...
