    Malta Kiwanis are happy to announce that they recently became part of the national program known as the Little Free Library. Throughout Montana Kiwanis Clubs have joined in this special program to encourage reading for everybody. There are over 100,000 Little Free Library projects set up and one is now located near Patty's Greenhouse and Florist.   • Dirt Daubers have been busy!

    Once again the Malta Dirt Daubers volunteered many hours to help beautify Malta. They have been decorating about 50 oak barrels around Malta for 20years. It was decided to change the spring decoration this year, hence, the white picket fence with the added flowers and birdhouse.     The cancer death of former Malta resident Timothy Charles Alzheimer was recently reported in the August 4 edition of the Bozeman Daily Chronicle. Tim had served as a loan officer at Malta’s First Security Bank (now Bank of Malta) before moving to Bozeman to continue his education at MSU. While living in Malta he served as a volunteer fireman, including the chief, and was also involved as a high school football official.     Malta Dirt Daubers invites the public to a special gardening event on Sat. Feb. 8 1 pm at the PC Museum. Professional landscaper Ben Haugen will give suggestions on designing and implementing a small flower bed. Helpful suggestions will be offered about which type of flowers should be placed in various types of soil. Size and shapes of flower beds and rock gardens and their locations with regards to sun and shade will be considered .   • Kiwanis is looking for can tabs!!!

    By chance do you have a few pull tabs from aluminum cans setting in a drawer somewhere? Now is the time to give the pull tabs to an elementary student to take to their classroom. The pull tabs are found on tuna, cat food, soup, veggie, soda pop, and other various aluminum cans. In mid January Malta Kiwanis will be collecting the pull tabs from the elementary school.     The Malta community welcomes one of MHS’s two new Special Education teachers, Mrs. LeAnn Haas. If LeAnn looks a trifle familiar to you, it could be because she is the former LeAnn Lee, MHS Mustang class of 2008. As a new special education teacher she is in a unique situation as several of her new fellow staff members were once her own high school teachers.
