    The Marian Hills Golf Course was the place to be on Saturday, October 9, for many area high school cross country teams, as Malta played host for the Malta Invitational. A total of 85 runners from 14 teams took to the course for one of their final tune-ups before the state meet on Saturday, October 23.     The 2nd annual Andrew Flansaas Memorial Run for Suicide Awareness and Prevention was held in Loring on Saturday, October 2, at 10:00 a.m. This year's event had 22 runners, almost doubling last year's total, had a 10k run and a 5k run/walk. Event organizer, Carmen Norville, said, "We had a really nice day for the run. It wasn't too windy."     During the last city council meeting on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, Public Works Director Jim Truelove said, “The crew is currently blowing out the sprinkler lines in the parks. That should be done this week.   • TC Energy Begins Pipeline Removal in Montana

    In June, 2021, TC Energy cancelled its Keystone XL Pipeline project. A decision that was ultimately made in January, once President Joe Biden removed the permit it needed to cross into the U.S. from Canada. TC Energy provided details of its plan in an August 14 document filed in Montana federal court. It stated that work to remove the 1.2-mile segment of the pipeline in northern Phillips County, will start September 22. The race was held at Clark's Hill, overlooking the Missouri River, just west of Frazer. The overall winner of the race was Annie Kaul of Plentywood, with a time of 19:53. In that one attack almost 3,000 people were killed. 2,606 in the World Trade Center and surrounding area, 265 on the four planes, and 125 at the Pentagon.     The Malta School Board was informed of the current enrollment for each class at their monthly meeting on Wednesday, September 8. This year the Kindergarten class is the largest with 52 members in it. The smallest class is a tie between the seventh grade and sophomore class with 30. The total enrollment for this year is slightly higher than last year.
