The Coyotes lost out in the tournament this weekend after losing games to Luster-Christian and then North Country and the Lady Coyotes won their game with Luster-Christian but lost against North Country, putting both teams out of the tournament. The girls won their basketball game with a good margin against Frazer on Friday while the boys lost their try against the BearCubs. Congratulations, girls. A full house turned out on Sunday with many of the ‘new’ people coming out to meet everyone and have Indian Tacos and win some of the many prizes. Winter has shown its claws this week with more snow and cold temperatures all week. Polly Solberg and Dora Henry were in Chinook and Havre on Monday for Polly’s medical appointments. Dora Henry attended the funeral of her niece, Phyllis Simpson, on Tuesday. Bill Henry came and took his Mom, Dora, to Havre for a few days over Christmas. Keelan, Kristi, Kieth, and Kortni came through and brought her home, staying a few days and helping Dora with her house. While here they visited the new Sleeping Buffalo for an afternoon of swimming. The weather has been cold – day and night – but we have not had a lot of snow. It has been windy some days that makes the cold penetrate. Thanksgiving was a beautiful but cold day. There was a large crowd for the special dinner cooked by the girls at the Wapthatu Center. Haven’t seen or talked with anyone since I returned, so don’t have much news. We returned from a wonderful trip to Alaska, where we visited my daughter Karen and her husband Bud Cribley at Anchorage. We saw lots of country, big mountains, lots of water, different animals and learned about our wonderful state of Alaska from Bud, who is with the BLM there. Work was being done getting new windows, wallboard, insulation and painting in Wink and Terri Cole’s house just in time for them to come home to stay this coming week. Dora Henry’s brother-in-law, Wally Henry, passed away on Friday Sept. 26. His services will be Friday October 2 at the Kirkwood Funeral Home. Condolences are sent to the whole family.
