    It has been some time since I have taken time to give an update to the community on Hi-Line Retirement Center. Life is good at HLRC. Our daily census remains up, staffing remains good; we made it through flu season without any major outbreaks. Our cash flow has been good; however;,we are still working on paying off old debt, and have not been able to start building a reserve as of yet.     WOW! It’s hard to believe that a year has passed since the passing of the torch at Hi-Line Retirement Center. Looking back over the past year I have so much to be thankful for. Walking through the doors on October 3, 2016, I had no idea if the facility was going to survive. I did know that I was in way over my head. I had not worked in a nursing home for over 20 years, and the rules and regulations have changed dramatically since then. My nursing home administrator license had been expired for 20 years.     It’s seems over the past few years any news about the Hi-Line Retirement Center has been bad news. Just a few months ago the facility announced operating as a nursing home was no longer financially feasible. The facility had notified the Department of Health and Human Services that they would close the nursing home in 90 days and reopen as an assisted living facility.
