Sympathy is extended to the Dave Clark family on the death of his niece. Dave and Cindy took a road trip to Minot for a brief visit with the family. I can't even comment on the weather because all the cold days are running together, and I can't keep it straight if the coldest weather was this week or last. The Loring Woman's Club will meet at the home of Dixie Stordahl on Wednesday at 7 p.m. I'm so thankful to the crew at Fine Line for fixing my jeep after the run-in with the deer! It is like a...

The snowbirds who talk about how nice the weather is in Arizona, just wouldn't know what to do with a 70 degree span in low and high temperatures like we had this last week! I'm very thankful for the warmup! Whitney Blunt spent a few days in Billings this past week. The Ding its and Dang it's were playing at half time of the varsity games this past weekend! It's so fun to see the little ones learning the skills of basketball! There are two more games in Whitewater this month and I'm sure they...

I wish you a very happy, healthy, wealthy new year! The temperature has dropped to subzero for 24 hours at a time! I hear from my friend in Barrow, Alaska, way up on the Arctic Ocean that the ocean hasn't even frozen yet! On that day even though it is dark 24/7 the temp was above freezing! This is very unusual and kinda scary for the polar bears that roam around the neighborhood! Becca and Robert Engum of Great Falls were guests at the Dave Clark's and Kenny Clark's this Christmas season. Also...

The December 6th news: Happy December! Just the beginning of the anticipation of the arrival of Jesus! Carol Lumsden, Ellie Norville, and Dixie Stordahl enjoyed the Festival of Trees at the Phillips County Museum on Thursday. I was very impressed with the beautiful trees and the wreaths and wall hangings! They were well received at the auction! The other items that were door prizes were also beautiful! Sadly, none of our party ended up with anything to bring home! However, Gale Simonson and Euni...

Happy Thanksgiving to all! I hope you get to share a turkey with your loved ones! I just accidentally got to Malta in time to see the Nation's Christmas tree from Montana pass through Malta on a huge semi-trailer. The truck was painted with a beautiful Scene of trees! There was an escort of at least seven patrol cars. I did question why so many sheriff/police cars, at first, then I realized it was a prestigious event! I am proud of the fact that this tree is a gift to Washington DC from our...

Another one of our Loringites has gone on to eternal life. Marion Matthews died on October 4. Our sympathy extended to the family, Mike, and Murray and their families, and Rene, Kari and Stephanie and their families! She grew up in Loring area in the 30's and 40's. She ranched north of Loring for many years with her husband Vern. She was legendary as a study hall teacher in Malta during the 70's! She passed down lots of trivia and special skills to the younger kids. I traveled to Havre on...

LORING NEWS I have experienced 97-degree weather last week along with the low 30's this week. Last week my sister, Debbie and I went to Phoenix for a few days to visit out brother Scott and his wife Roxanne. We had a great time! We visited the Butterfly Wonderland, the Museum of the West, and went to Lorie Morgan Concert at the Musical Instrument Museum! We went out to eat at the California Cheese-cake Factory. But...

I think it has been about 3 weeks since Hurricane Maria hit the Country of Dominica where Jeff and Athlene Murdock live. Jeff grew up in Whitewater, went to the Peace Corps when he graduated from college and has lived in Dominica for several years now. When he was able to call his family back in Whitewater he reported that they were alive but they were not ok. The whole island was demolished, all the trees were stripped or actually broken, most of the dwellings were down, etc. I just don't even...

Happy October to all my readers! With the strong wind today, most of the leaves from our big cottonwood have fallen from the tree. Hello, Fall! You certainly came in with a vengeance, but we had such an extreme summer, your cooler temps are certainly a welcome relief! More leaves fall off our cottonwood every day, just to annoy my husband! Loring had just a bit of rain, but that was welcome, also. The Loring Lutheran Church held services in the newly refurbished church for the first time on Sunday, September 24! It is not completely finished...lots of little touches left to do, and the cupboards in the kitchen, etc., but...

Last week of summer, and what a summer we had! But now with the cooler temps and even a bit of rain, the heat seems to be in the past, for now. A couple of great horned owls stopped in our yard today! They can eat the mice with my blessings but please leave my little birds alone! The flickers, robins, and finches are still hanging around too. It makes for some fun movements! Trace and Beau Simonson had a wonderful cheering section at the football game for homecoming, grandma and grandpa...

The Great Plains Dinosaur Museum has had a great 2017 season with a record number of Junior Paleontologist Programs, great participation in the adult dig programs, and approximately 20-percent more visitors through the gallery. Only 7% said they were on the Montana Dinosaur Trail but we did sell 14 Passport books. Fifty percent of our visitors were from Montana. We had visitors from 11 other countries including Canada, Germany, Australia, Poland, New Zealand, Italy, France, Sweden, South...

Sports have kicked in now with the first volleyball invitational tournament in Malta this last weekend, And the blue and white scrimmage on Friday evening. Many of the area people drove to Billings/Huntley for the Cox-Ferguson wedding! Blessings to the happy couple! I'm so sorry that I missed writing the news last week. I was at a family reunion in Kalispell area. It was smoky over there until Sunday night and Monday but we still had a great time! Fifteen Cowan relatives in the same house for four days caused unimaginable giggles! We ate our share of Flathead cherries! In addition, David, my son, did most of the cooking on the Traegar. We also took a tour on a ship of the Flathead Lake. Then one evening Scott Cowan, Debbie Richau and I drove to Whitefish...

Congratulations to all the people who entered objects in the fair! I believe our youngest winner up in this area is Ryan Clark who received a blue ribbon on his green pea entry in open class! Way to go, Ryan! I have many fond memories of getting ready for the fair with all the entries, baking, canning and cleaning sheaves. Much stress! But people continue to enter and be judged and win money for their efforts! Lu Besel and I took in the concert along with about 500 other people! It was a great...

The month of June is zipping by! The first week of summer has been a bit cool and windy. Still no rain, which we desperately need! The ditches are being swathed and baled as is the other hay. The Loring picnic fundraiser was a great success! I didn't realize how many little kiddos were around here until they all got together on the playground, I'd say about 20 under seven! The adults had a Norweigan horseshoe tournament with about ten teams. A special treat for me was seeing Ruth and John...
