Every place is festive with lights twinkling, even though there is a few miles between the farms! Tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov. 5) is Election Day. I went down to the Courthouse to register on Tuesday. I thought I had registered in June, but they didn’t have my name. The fall always brings the migration of birds back south. Lots of geese and cranes have been sited and heard flying over! The robins and meadowlarks at Loring should be flying out soon if they haven’t already! Preconditioning of the cows is happening as they are moved to the winter pasture closer to the home place. My goodness, Mother Nature has changed her nature! Yesterday on September 29 the temperature was so high it broke a record here in Billings. I know Malta had record highs also! But today the cold wind from the northwest is chilly! The sun is shining so I’m optimistic that it’ll be a bit warmer, but not above 70! Happy fall! The temperature has been very nice, in the 80’s and high 70’s! In Billings, we had a couple of nice rains, about a tenth or two. We really needed it. And also, a shower up at Loring. Now they are very dry and I’m hoping they get another little shower to get some moisture into the ground before the snow flies. My weeklong visit to Loring has come to an end! I certainly enjoyed every day! The smoke in the sky makes for beautiful sunsets and sunrises! The moon has been full this week, so it has had some beautiful colors too! But the clear blue sky is still the best! The temps have been in the 60’s for lows and 90’s for highs. It is pretty hot. The hay is getting brought in to store for the cows this winter. Normally, the northern plains of Montana are considered windy. But the wind has found Billings also. This past week was rainy and windy. This next week the forecast is for hot temps.
